Just look at the above art by Michelangelo. It is so good that I get clean bowled. The dark and the light areas are so well drawn. The drawing seem to pop out in 3d.
I want my drawings of portraits this way.
I am going to follow the following principle to be able to draw like Michelangelo. " if there is cosine hatching for dark, then there is cosine hatching for light"
I intend to use above principle and experiment and try to get a superb finish.
Well, this question was there in my mind always. Because I strongly believe in good hatching.

And therefore I need to use range of pencils, blending, layering and mix hatching techniques.

I tried to make a hyper-realistic portrait of Will Smith. Meaning to the level that one is unable to distinguish whether it is a portrait drawn or a photo.
It didn't turn out to be one. I spent 3 hours.
I want to become a hyper-realistic portrait artist. But I am able to only achieve realism and not hyper-realism.

I made a few decisions in my art endeavor. Webtoons are my way. By webtoons I mean comics for smartphones. Smartphone comics are suitable because I plan to tell an incident rather than a story.
I don't plan to get my comics published online. I just want to improve quality over a period of 4 years.
I am upto 70% satisfied with my artwork. And 60% with my coloring. I plan to improve this. In the potential. In my style. I want my characters drawn like Tintin, Archie's. Simple lines. Simple eyes, simple nose.
In artwork I lack actions.
In coloring the gradience are not smooth. The distinct layers are visible. Also I need to add another layer for light colors. What I mean is just like shadows with a darker tone, I want to add lighted areas with lighter tones.
I don't study art or mathematics. But I have a research mentality. All my expressions in mathematics are done with the help of Wolfram Alpha. In art I want to improve quality by following PDCA cycle. So it is research I do and not studying.

I have improved my coloring now. And finalized my drawing. I shall now take up "BEHAVO" subjects. Also I shall spend time in paper art and do paper portraits of important people.
